Margaret Thurn is a seasoned attorney with over 25 years experience in the legal field. She has served as both an Arbitrator and Judge Pro Tem with the Orange County Superior Court in California. She also spent over four years as in-house counsel for Southern California Edison. Much of her time is now devoted to working with community-based organizations and educational institutions. Margaret is a staunch advocate for nursing home reform. She currently provides legal advocacy on behalf of seniors and their families. This passion began when she served as General Counsel for an elder care organization in Nevada.
As a teaching professional, she has lectured at California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly); Western State University College of Law; and Fullerton Community College. With an appreciation for higher education, Margaret has developed various instructional curriculums that are currently being used by several universities’ throughout California.
In the corporate legal field, Margaret advises corporate officers on legal liabilities and risk exposure associated with non-compliance of state and federal requirements and company policies. She achieves this, in part, through analyzing and monitoring legislation, facilitating communications, and presenting/testifying before state and local branches of government at the request of non-profit and for-profit organizations.
With Margaret’s vast legal experience and her background serving the community, she was able to secure several county and municipal contracts for the Public, Education and Government (PEG) cable access channel.
Margaret is a member of the State Bar of California, with some of her professional time being devoted to the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit (San Francisco).
